BA Tier Points: Earning Silver and Gold from the UK
BA Executive Club status. Bronze, Silver, Gold; is earned in Tier Points, which are a separate currency to the Avios you spend. The thresholds reset every membership year, and for many UK flyers the chase becomes its own annual sport.

What you get
- Bronze: dedicated check-in, priority boarding, extra Avios on flights
- Silver:. BA Galleries lounge access, fast-track security at most UK airports, free seat selection in advance, sapphire-tier oneworld benefits
- Gold:. Concorde Room access at Heathrow T5 and JFK (huge), guaranteed availability on long-haul Avios reward seats with 14 days' notice, emerald-tier oneworld benefits
- Gold Guest List: two annual upgrade vouchers, ability to nominate one Gold for life, plus the world's longest list of soft benefits
Tier Points by route (rough rule of thumb)
Tier Points are awarded per flight segment based on cabin and distance. Indicative one-way values:
- UK domestic Economy: 5–20 TP
- Short-haul Europe Economy (Euro Traveller): 5–40 TP
- Short-haul Europe Business (Club Europe): 40–80 TP
- Long-haul Economy (World Traveller): 35–60 TP
- Long-haul Premium Economy (WTP): 90–125 TP
- Long-haul Business (Club World): 140–210 TP
- Long-haul First: 210–280 TP
Building a year
For most UK desk-bound professionals who want Silver, the sensible recipe is:
- One transatlantic Club World return: ~360 TP
- Two or three Club Europe returns through the year: ~240–360 TP
- Top up with a short-haul Club Europe weekend if needed
Gold (1,500 TP) is genuinely demanding without paid Business travel, and is where most people accept that they're either flying for work or not bothering.
The "Tier Point Run"
A British loyalty tradition: a paid trip booked solely to top up your TP balance before the membership year resets. Common favourites include same-day Club Europe returns to Dublin or Geneva, and end-of-year tactical fares to Doha in Business via cheap Qatar Airways routings (which earn TPs in BA's account). Always do the maths first — sometimes the run costs more than the benefits it preserves.
Lifetime Gold
At 35,000 lifetime Tier Points BA grants Lifetime Gold, which never resets. For frequent business flyers, it's the long-game prize worth optimising towards.
